Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Prezans website and the Prezans online services (together, the "Services"). The Prezans desktop and companion applications themselves are licensed separately under the Prezans User Agreement (EULA). By requesting a copy of Prezans or using the Services, you agree to these Terms on behalf of your church or organisation ("you", "your church").

1. What Prezans is

In plain words: Prezans is presentation and live-production software we provide to churches free of charge.

Prezans is desktop presentation software for worship services, with an optional mobile companion app and optional online services (activation, encrypted content sync, and live-follow links). It is provided to churches free of charge for use in their ministry.

2. Getting a copy, serial numbers and activation

In plain words: we send your church a download link and a serial number. The serial is for your church, works on a stated number of computers, and shouldn't be passed around or sold.

Copies are provided on request. We may decline or limit requests at our discretion — for example, requests that do not appear to come from a church or ministry.
Each serial number is issued to one church and activates the number of computers stated when it is issued.
You agree not to sell, rent, publish or otherwise redistribute your serial number or download link. If a serial is compromised we may reissue or revoke it; we will not knowingly leave a church without a working copy.
Activation requires a brief internet connection once per computer. After activation, the desktop application runs offline.

2a. Email we send you

In plain words: we email you about your request and your support. Anything else only if you asked for it, and you can stop it in one click.

We will always email you about the copy you asked for, your serial number, and anything you write to us about. That is us answering you, and it does not stop until you do.
We send news about Prezans and our other products only to addresses that ticked the optional box on the request form. The box is unticked by default and ticking it is not a condition of getting a copy or of receiving support.
Every such message carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Using it removes you at once and affects nothing else — not your copy, not your serial, not your support.
We do not sell, rent or share your address with anyone.

3. Your content and your responsibility

In plain words: the songs and media you load are yours, and so are the licences for them (for example CCLI).

Prezans ships only public-domain content. Everything you import — lyrics, media, audio — remains yours, stays under your control, and is your responsibility: you confirm that your church holds whatever rights or licences (such as CCLI) its use of that content requires, and that nothing you publish through the Services infringes anyone's rights or applicable law.

4. The optional online services

In plain words: if you turn on home access, we store an encrypted copy we cannot read — and only your church holds the key. Keep the key safe: we cannot recover it.

Publishing your songbook, rehearsal audio or attachments for home access is optional. Published content is encrypted on your computer before upload, with a key held by your church. We store ciphertext we cannot decrypt, and we cannot recover your content if the key is lost.
Live-follow links relay what your operator projects, so members can follow a service remotely. You control when this is on.
The Services carry a storage quota per church (currently 2 GB). We may adjust quotas with reasonable notice.
The Services are provided free of charge and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We will give reasonable notice of discontinuation where practicable — and because Prezans is offline-first, your Sunday does not depend on our servers.

5. Data retention

In plain words: if your church stops using the online services for 90 days, we delete its online data.

Online data belonging to a church that has not connected for 90 days is automatically and permanently deleted, including its encrypted content. This never touches anything on your own computers. See the Privacy Policy for what we hold and for how long.

The one exception is a mailing-list subscription, if you asked for one: consent lasts until it is withdrawn, so that address is kept until you unsubscribe rather than being deleted on the 90-day clock.

6. Streaming and third-party services

Prezans can stream to services such as YouTube using your church's own account. That use is governed by the third party's own terms — for YouTube, the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Prezans uses YouTube API Services. You are responsible for what your church broadcasts.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Services — including attempting to access another church's data, probing or disrupting the Services, circumventing activation or quotas, or using the Services for anything unlawful.

8. No warranty

In plain words: Prezans is free software from a small team. We build it carefully, but we can't promise perfection — please test your setup before the service.

THE SERVICES AND THE SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, CONTENT OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES OR THE SOFTWARE — INCLUDING INTERRUPTIONS TO A SERVICE, BROADCAST OR RECORDING. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, IT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICES, WHICH IS ZERO.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time; the desktop application will keep working offline. We may suspend or terminate access to the Services for breach of these Terms. Sections 3, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mauritius.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above will change, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
